INOV, the French National Plant Variety Authority, is the body in charge of the allocation of Plant Variety Certificates in France.

French laws and regulations in force:

The Law of 8 December 2011 authorises, for the first time since 1970, new varieties to be used as farm-saved seed or plants. They are protected by a national plant variety certificate, subject to a financial compensation for the breeder of the variety used.

Law of 11 March 2014 strengthening the prevention of counterfeiting.
