Genetics progress improves the agronomical and technological qualities of plants. The high costs of research imply a steady financial support from the main recipients : farmers and industrial rights users. By supervising the flow of royalties due and transferring these royalties back to the registered rights owners, the group contributes to research funding and encourages the diversity of its resources in agricultural, horticultural and agri-business development.

Engouraging research and development

Biotechnologies and plant enhancement form a logical and complex system. The skills and needs of each contributor have to be clearly set out in order to harmonize relationships. Thus, in addition to the usual management and supervision activities, the SICASOV Group inspires the creation of a number of joint research initiatives and participates in their management. This activity allows the development of fundamental research, the cooperation between government and commercial research and the marketing of new, enhanced products.

Transferring the progress

SICASOV ensures the widespread uptake of new improved varieties through licenses and agency agreements granted or awarded to the group by owners of intellectual property rights. The group also prevents any infringement of vegetal variety rights and patented inventions and makes sure the relevant markets are adequately supplied, whilst strictly maintaining the rules of competition at a national, European and international level. The group gives third parties all means to access commercial markets.
