Farm saved seeds
Farmers have alway saved a part of their crops for reproduction on their own holdings. This is the concept of "farm saved seeds".
In accordance with the 1991 UPOV Convention (International Convention on Protection of Vegetal Varieties), the European Regulation 2100/94 and national laws, farmers using farm saved seeds to sow their next planting have to pay royalties on protected varieties.
SICASOV manages, verifies and collects due farm saved seeds royalties.
